“Versatile Blogger Nomination” for a noob!

A couple of days ago I received a nomination for a ‘Versatile Blogger Award’ on my Hurt Locker review comments section by fellow blogger Mike over on MikesFilmTalk. “Unbelievable” I thought; I’ve only been blogging for just over a month and I was pleased, honoured and grateful to get noticed by such a seasoned and established blogger like Mike (Thank you Mike).

Later that same day I read Mike’s blog post about his own nomination and I realised that there was more to this process than met the eye. There were rules about how one should respond upon receipt of such a nomination and a requirement to further nominate ten people of my own. Here are the rules as listed on Mike’s blog post;

1. In a post on your blog, nominate 10 fellow bloggers for The Versatile Blogger Award; and link to them

2. In the same post, add the Versatile Blogger Award

3. In the same post, thank the blogger who nominated you in a post with a link back to their blog

4. In the same post, share 10 completely random pieces of information about yourself

5. In the same post, include this set of rules

6. Inform each nominated blogger of their nomination by posting a comment on each of their blogs

This presented a problem for me. While I am easily in a position to meet some of the rule requirements (I’ve done 2, 3 & 5 already) as I mentioned above I’m new to blogging on WordPress and I’m not really in a position to nominate ten fellow bloggers as per rule number one. In fact, in my first month of blogging, I have started following 4 other bloggers. I mostly just search by key words in the reader and see what’s going on in the general world of WordPress. Over time I imagine I will begin following many, many more people, but at the moment I am following just a limited number.

So here are the four other bloggers I follow and I nominate them all, although relinquish them of any responsibility to this strange chain award rules if they don’t care for the rules or have been nominated before. They all have interesting things to say… usually on the same TV shows, console games and movies that I do.  In no particular order;

As to the ten random things about myself;

1. I have been married to my gorgeous Wife for 7 seven years in September and we had been together for 5 years before that;
2. We eloped toNew York and had our wedding ceremony under beautiful September sunshine in Central Park with just 7 close friends attending;
3. My Daughter’s name is Penny and she is named after The Beatles songPenny Lane;
4. I play the guitar… badly;
5. Professionally, when I was employed, I was a CIPD qualified HR Practitioner specialising in recruitment & selection      and  learning & development;
6. I wear size 11 shoes;
7. Today I have drunk 4 cups of tea and will drink probably 2 glasses of red wine this evening;
8. I am freakishly obsessed with hats and sunglasses;
9. My favourite colours are blues and browns for a good outfit;
10. I grow my hair long to hide my receding hairline

There we go one and all – I am now going away to investigate how many other nominees there are and to see if I am in the running for any actual genuine award… because I’m greedy and love being the centre of attention! Also – on my way to satisfy rule number 6…
